Psychology professor Robert Fettgather has been a faculty associate at Mission College in Santa Clara, California, since 1983. He obtained his master’s in education at Santa Clara University two years earlier. As an associate professor, he teaches courses in a wide range of topics, from general and developmental psychology to abnormal psychology. He has also taught psychiatric interviewing and an introduction to developmental disabilities. Robert Fettgather has made numerous conference presentations locally and at the state and national level.

Dr. Fettgather studied religion and spirituality at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is co-founder of the Tashi Lhunpo Sangha,

In addition, Dr. Fettgather taught adults with developmental disabilities at Agnews Developmental Center from 1979 to 2005, focusing on language development, sensorimotor development, and independent living skills. Furthermore, he volunteered with the Coalition for Elder and Disability Rights in Saratoga, California, where he spoke at conferences on elder and disability rights, and visited elders while providing family support.

Dr. Fettgather has received recognition for his work, including a Certificate of Recognition for Published Work from Santa Clara University in 1991. His writings have been published in the Transactional Analysis Journal (Translated to French per the Centre Pour La Formationet L’intervention Psycho-Sociologiques), Voices: The Art and Science of Psychotherapy, and Lifelong Learning

He continues as an advocate for various causes and is a member of Psychologists for Social Responsibility. Outside his work, Dr. Fettgather has an interest in meditation and Buddhist studies, and also enjoys hiking and camping.
